Some of you may have heard that I am returning to graduate school in the fall. I’ve decided to pursue my M.Ed in gifted education. Before having children, I was a teacher. Now as a mother of school aged children I am seeing the need in our schools for qualified teachers of gifted learners.

I have always appreciated all of my new clients, especially those who were referred by current clients, and hope that everyone understands this decision.

A True Gift {Glendale Newborn Photographer}

I believe that each baby and child is a gift to his or her parents and to the world but once in a rare while you will have the chance to meet a true gift. Someone who truly has something special to bring to his family and the people around him. This weekend I met someone like that. Little “M” is only 21 days old but he is one of those special gifts. He’s amazingly cute, amazingly alert and also amazingly calm. He also fits in just perfectly with his family.

I’ve know his family for a couple of years. We met during my homeschooling days and have been in and out of contact. When I heard that they were expecting baby “M”, I knew what my gift would be….I had to document him in his first days. You can see in this sneak peek that baby “M” will be one well loved child…especially by his big brother who had a kiss for him each time he came into the room.

Princess Olivia - the Fairy Tale Ball {Peoria Children’s Photography}

Today was the First Grade Fairy Tale Ball. It was a wonderful celebration to end a fun study of fairy tales in Olivia’s class (and the other first grade classes). All of the first graders dressed up as characters from the various fairy tales they have studied, ate “Fairy Tale Parfait” (yogurt w/ fruite & granola), built castles (out of toilet paper rolls), listened to fairy tales in the “Royal Library” and learned to dance a waltz like all good princesses and princes do. You can even see the wonderful Mrs. Armstrong as a a beautiful Princess Tiana (w/ frog!).

This past weekend, I met a really fun couple. ”R” and “M” are expecting their first baby and opted for an outdoor maternity session. I L-O-V-E outdoor maternity sessions!! I had so much fun at this session that I just can’t wait for little “L” to arrive so that we can schedule her newborn session.

Little Man “J” {Scottsdale Children’s Photography}

The first time I met this little guy’s big sister, she was just a few months older than he is now. That was a few years ago and the family has become one of my favorites to photograph. His big sister has just a tad bit of “spiritedness” that reminds me of my own daughter….so she of course just warms my heart every time I see her!

Today it was the little guy’s big one year old photoshoot! We had to postpone a couple times due a weather and a yucky case of pink eye on my son’s part but we finally were able to meet up at Anthem this week for his session.

As you can see, he is just an absolute doll. The shot with him in his red shirt makes him look like such a little man! But then in the rest, you can see that he is just a fun loving toddler (who by the way, plays a nice game of catch!).

You just recently met “D”, now you get to meet his big (twin) sister, “S”. She let me know during our session that she is older by an entire minute! I’ve known “S” since my daughter’s first day of kindergarten last year. “O” was so nervous because she didn’t know anyone at the new school and little “S” walked right up to her and introduced herself. They’ve been pretty inseparable since that first day. When I volunteer in their first grade classroom, I’m just as likely to get a hug from “S” as I am from my own daughter. And I just love it.

A Boy and His Dog {Phoenix Children’s Photographer}

“D” is seven years old. He is the twin brother of my daughter’s best friend. ”D” is a joy and a miracle. He celebrated his birthday this past weekend (with his sister, of course) and rather than ask for gifts, he (and his sister) asked for donations to the Make a Wish Foundation. I have been wanting to photograph “D” and his sister for a while now so I offered a portrait session for their birthday gift. I’m so glad I had the chance. I usually only see “D” in passing during pick up or drop off at school. I’ve always thought he was a sweet boy but never knew how silly he is until our portrait session.

You see, “D” has a very serious disease called Mitochondrial Disease. He is a fighter who is facing the odds of this disease and has been winning for the past seven years. Last year, his parents were able to get him a dog of his own. You can read this article about “D” and Dory at “A Boy’s Best Friend”.

For our portrait session, we made sure to include some shots with “D” and Dory. She is such a calm and loving dog. A perfect match for such a sweet and silly boy. As you’ll see in the this sneak peek, “D” is full of smiles and loves his dog so very much.

Pretty in Pink {Scottsdale Baby Photographer}

This weekend’s mini-sessions went great. The forecast on Saturday was for rain but we lucked out with the rain holding off until late afternoon.

I’ve been photographing this little sweetie’s big brother since he was a newborn and was excited to get a chance to photograph her. She was such a doll and such an easy subject. Isn’t she “pretty in pink”?
